Morgan Helps with Clear the Shelters™ 2021

Did you know the average cost of pet adoption ranges between $50 to $200 which often includes all vaccinations and a spay/neuter procedure if not already done so? Talk about a bargain compared to buying from a breeder. You’re often looking at about $500 up to $5,000 in all sorts of fees for the first couple months of the puppies’ life if you go through a breeder. I should know, I have to go sell my soul for Ryker’s upcoming surgery for his neuter and Hernia fixture. I set myself up for that one. I’ve always wanted a French Bulldog and now my pockets are mad at me.

But I can’t say my life isn’t full of love, adventure, and surprises.

You could be in luck though!

NBC Universal, with the support of Hills, has partnered with hundreds of animal shelters and adoption centers to create a nationwide, nonprofit adoption program called Clear the Shelter ™ that typically runs between August 23rd through September 19th every year. Their goal is to make sure all animals get a chance at a happy, fur-ever home while, obviously, clearing the shelters at the same time. I mean, have you been inside an animal shelter? It breaks my heart seeing those babies with those sappy eyes. I want to bring them all home but I don’t think my parents and fiancé would be thrilled about that.

So, what does this program mean and do exactly? The shelters and centers that partner with this program, will help you with adoption fees. Meaning, your fees could be cut in half or you could get your new friend for free!

Even celebrities join in on this in a variety of ways. Everyone’s beloved Nanny, Fran Drescher, is a supporter of Clear The Shelters™. If you don’t know who she is, either you just lived under a rock or you’re too young and you need to go ask your parents to introduce you to the show. Or at the very least, explain it to you.

The Dog ‘Gon Wild family is happy to announce that we are donating $500 to Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter on Saturday, September 18th in support of Clear the Shelters™. So, go check them out and maybe leave with a new friend that day.

Or, if you’re like me and not allowed to bring home anymore animals, you can make a donation to Clear the Shelters™ or to our friends at Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter. Donations to funds or items that shelters may need; like used pillows, blankets, food, and toys. Anything is always appreciated to make one of our friends feel like they’re still loved and wanted until they find their fur-ever homes.
